Why A Sports Nutrition Consultant Is More Significant Than A Coach

Working with a Sports dietician should be the place to begin of any fitness or coaching program. A sports nutritionist will analyse where you are at, concentrate on your diet and measure your body composition so that you can track your progress.

The starting point in any sports nutrition consultation will be your diet diary. To fill in a diet diary your sports nutritionist will often ask you to write down and monitor everything you have eaten and drunk during the last few days. You may then be asked what your goals are and what it is you will like to reach and the sports nutritionist will take some of your measurements, usually measuring your skin fold to establish what your five subcutaneous fat levels are.

When looking at your diet apropos your goals it is really important to get the correct protein to carbohydrate balance, if you are an endurance sportsman you will need more carbohydrate to fuel your coaching sessions than a run athlete who will need more protein to aid in building and retain muscle mass. Most of the people make big mistakes when it comes to fat thinking that all fat is bad, nothing could be further from the truth we absolutely need fat, but good fats like extra virgin olive oil and virgin organic coconut oil. Another important dietary consideration is the frequency of your meals it is better to eat smaller meals more frequently than two or three massive meals a day.
